It had been a few days since Storm had awoken from the nightmarish memories of his past and he was still a bit shaken up, it was the first time he had remembered that day since it happened. He had also awoken to a very large mess, as his tossing around had flung coins all over the place. What was really worrying him was that he had not seen Frostica since then either, he hoped he had not frightened her away with all the noise he was making. 'Maybe I'll find her tommorow, but right now I have and idea to make it up to her,' he thought hoping he hadn't permanantly scared her away, as he headed for the exit, using his ability to disappear when he got there and taking to the skies. Near sunset Storm was back and returning to his cave to work on his gift. 'I hope she likes it or I'll feel like a fool,' he thought heading for his cave with a small sack tied around his neck. When he had returned he went to his sleeping area and pulled the sack from his neck thinking, 'I'm glad she still remembered me or I would have been attacked.' He opened the sack and removed a very large roll of gold string, 'I'm glad she had more of this also,' he thought sitting the string on the ground next to his now cleaned up pile of coins, 'It sure was fun cleaning up all of those coins,' he thought sarcasticly as he went over to his pile of stones and started pulling the smaller prettier ones, ones previously on necklaces, from the pile. 'Maybe after I find Frostica tommorow and give her my gift she will want to go out hunting with me,' he thought as he started to thread the stones onto the gold string in several long ropes. After finishing putting the stones on the string he took a gold bar from the bag and started attatching the strings to the bar. 'There all done, I hope she likse this,' he thought placing the now finished item to the side and walking into his sleeping area to sleep for the night. Storm awoke feeling better than he had in days because today he would hopefully get to go hunting with Frostica. He was interrupted from his thoughts when he sensed someone approaching his cave. |

The day after she had met Storm, Frostica awoke in her cave. She got up and stretched her legs, still sleepy. Then she stood on her hind legs and batted at a stalactite on the ceiling of her cave with her sharp claws. As her claws scraped against it, leaving deep gouge marks, its weight was too much for the small amount of ice holding it up on the ceiling, and it fell and shattered on the floor. She fell back down on all fours and picked up several of the peices of the stalactite and ate them. With a full belly, she set off down the tunnel out of her cave. She sensed that it was a cool day today, perhaps rainy, so she decided to go to the entrance to the caves. As Frostica walked on, taking many turns at forks in the tunnels, she suddenly stopped. A solid wall of ice loomed before her--a dead end. What? she thought. I thought I was going the right way! She turned and tried to find her way back by starting down the tunnel she thought she had come down, but soon, after more turns, Frostica realized that was also the wrong tunnel. She was lost, and becoming a little panicked. After two hours of walking through tunnels, she was hungry, so she created some ice to eat out of the air. Several more hours passed, and she still hadn't found the entrance to the caves. It was getting dark and it was becoming hard to see, so Frostica lay down in the tunnels and slept. Two days later, Frostica was panicked and almost starving. She had exhausted herself by using too much ice magic and her stomach was empty. She slowly walked down the tunnels, took another turn, and a scent hit her. Storm's cave! she thought. Finally, somewhere I recognize. She picked up her pace, although she was exhausted, and finally reached Storm's cave. Without even checking if Storm was inside, she walked into the cave, and finally unable to walk any more, she collapsed. |

Storm was alrmed to see Frostica enter his cave, looking like she was panicking and had not eaten in a while, and promptly pass out. 'Oh no, is she alright,' he thought getting up and racing to her side. "Frostica, Frostica are you okay," he called to her trying to get a response from the unconcious dragoness. Not getting a response he pulls on his magic to see if he can figure out what is wrong with her. After a few moments he knows that she hasn't eaten in a while and is utterly exhausted, having no energy left to keep her going.'This isn't good I have to do something,' he thought trying franticly to think of a way to help. Coming up with an idea he said, "I'll help bring you back around," as he placed a hand on the side of her neck and focused his healing magic on healing her exhaustion and replenishing some of her lost energy, there isn't much he can do about hunger. After he finished restoring her energy he tried to wake her again thinking, 'if she doesn't wake up I don't know how I'm going to get any food into her, I don't even know what she eats.' |

In her unconcious state, Frostica could hear a faint voice by her, but too far away to make out what they were saying. Then she felt something on her neck and soon her lost energy came back. She opened her eyes very slightly and saw Storm trying to wake her. She opened her eyes more and slowly sat up, then tried to stand, but a sharp, terrible pain in her stomach made her collapse again. Using the energy Storm gave her she froze some of the water in the air, making a small piece of ice that fell to the floor in front of her. She took it and quickly swallowed it, feeling a lot better after eating the food she hadn't tasted in days. But her energy was used up again, she couldn't use any more of her ice magic, and she was still hungry. Looking up, she saw an icicle hanging from the ceiling that looked just the right size to fill her stomach. She tried to stand up on two legs and get it down, but she was too tired and fell back down again. Storm, can you please get that icicle down for me? she asked him, feeling another hunger pang in her stomach. |

Storm watched as Frostica made some ice and ate it thinking, ' so she eats ice, guess she won't want to go out hunting then.' Then her heard her ask him to get an icicle for her and looked up to see one hanging above his head that was a pretty good size. "Sure I'll get it," he said as he reared up and grabbed a hold of it and started pulling trying to snap it off. After a few tugs there is a loud snap and the icicle comes off in his hands. He slowly lowers the ice down next to her head so she would be able to reach it easier. "There you go," he said happy to be able to help her. "I have something for you," he said as he stepped away to go and retrieve her gift. He returns quickly and holds the newly made jewel curtain up for her to see and said, "I remember you said you liked my curtain so I made you one too," before laying it down next to her. |

Frostica watched Storm pull the icicle down and lay it next to her. Thank you. she said, then took it and snapped the tip off with her teeth and swallowed it, then crunched up the whole icicle before finishing it. Then Storm said that he had something for her and walked away to pick up something, then returned to her. Frostica's eyes widened as he held up another jewel curtain like the one that she had seen when she first visited Storm's cave. Storm then said that he remembered that Frostica had said that she liked his curtain so he made her one too, then laid it down next to her. She picked it up and looked at it. For me? Thank you so much! she said happily, already thinking of how pretty it would look in her cave. She set it down very gently and looked up at Storm. Sorry for not thanking you earlier for saving me. Frostica said. I just had to eat something or else I would pass out again. You see, the day after I met you I got lost in the caves, and after two days I finally found your cave. If it hadn't been for you I probably would have died... Then Frostica picked up the curtain again and examined the miniature jewels that were threaded onto the golden string. She looked up at Storm and asked, Are these threads real gold? Then she looked down at the curtain again. Where did you get everything to make this? |

Storm was happy Frostica liked his gift. "Yes, the thread is gold, its the only way that it could survive the cold and that it is strong enough to be worked with by dragon claws, and the answer to where I got the thread and bar is simple some of the friends I made a long time ago were still alive and remembered me, so that I could get the items from them, they are humans," He said as he thought about his old friends. "I was younger than I am now, it was a few years after I discovered my love of shiny things, and I was returning to my cave after a hunt only to find someone in my cave, I was understandably angry and asked why they were there, they told me they wanted to meet the person who had such an impressive collection, it took time but we eventualy became friends and I learned that they were th only family in the world that makes gold thread, We promissed to stay in touch and they taught me to make my curtain as a going away gift when it was time for me to move my collection to a new cave," He said as he thought of his friends who he had caught up with just the other day. |

Frostica listened as Storm spoke about the gold thread and how he met the humans that gave it to him. So he's met humans... she thought. I thought they were supposed to try to kill dragons... I understand why you love shiny things so much. These jewels and gold objects in your cave are so pretty. she said, glancing around at Storm's hoard of shiny objects. I wonder why the humans you said you met didn't attack you? I thought that humans in metal armor used to kill dragons a long time ago. I don't think they would have gotten any nicer... or have they? And I also thought that they didn't live in Selzar. I thought they lived very far away and they haven't come to Selzar at all. But there's also those humans that a dragon I met once had talked about... She said that she saw them in Selzar. I wonder where they came from? Well, most of the stuff I know about humans came from Diosyre, so he might be wrong. she said, shrugging. |

Storm listened to what Frostica had to say before he answered her questions. "The humans i met weren't in armor when I met them, so I think they stumbled upon my cave by accident and were interested in meeting me," he said answering her first question. "And they weren't in Selzar, I met them in a land that is not but a few days travel from Selzar and thats where they still live to this day," he answered her next few questions in one go. "And finally, not all humans are bad, some are good, there are those that will attack a dragon on site and there are those that will try to talk to a dragon and then there are those that will run from dragons, but you never really know which one you've met till you have spoken to them or they have attacked or run away," he explained quietly. "Now I would like to know if you would like to go out to the area outside the caves for a short hunt," he asked hoping that she would say yes. |

Frostica nodded after Storm answered her questions. So humans are apparently quite unpredictable. she said. It must be hard to make friends with them. Then Storm asked her if she wanted to go outside the caves for a short hunt. Oh... I, um, I don't eat meat. Frostica admitted, looking down and feeling embarassed. I only eat ice, and snow and grass in the winter if I have the chance, since I'm confined to the caves of Suni in the late spring, summer, and early fall. And I also just don't want to kill animals. I barely see any animals anyway, when it gets cold enough to get outside it's too cold for most animals to be walking around, they're usually in their burrows or hiding. She looked up. But I do want to go outside, if it's cold enough out to do so. Is it all right if I just eat grass? |

Storm listened as Frostica told him she didn't eat meat but ice, snow and grass. "Okay thats fine with me, my suggestion was that if you were to hot I could use my ice breathing ability to keep you cold if you start to get to hot," he said before continuing, "and I don't mind that you don't eat meat, I hold nothing against no one, if someone is born different than someone else that is the way they were meant to be and they should not be punished or looked down upon because of it." "I think that it is overcast today so that today is cooler than most of the other days during the summer, But if you would like to go then we can go but we need to go before it gets too dark to see any of the animals if you want to see them," he said as he turned to head out of the cave. "We can go whenever your ready," he said while mentaly cheering at being able to spend time with her. |

Frostica was relieved when Storm told her that he didn't mind that she didn't eat meat. Then he said that he thought that it was overcast today and that they needed to go before it got dark, then he turned to head out of the cave and said that they could go whenever Frostica was ready. He looks much happier. she thought, then turned and walked over to the tunnel. I'm ready now, so we can go. Frostica said, then started to walk down the tunnel, glancing back to see if Storm was following her. (Sorry that it's short, I can't think of anything else to say.) |

"Okay Lets go," Storm said excited about going as he walked to the entrance of his cave. "Just one thing I have to do first," he said before rubbing against the walls on both sides of the entrance before turning to her and saying, "Okay all done." As they were walking towards the entrance Storm thought he would tell her about how he became able to breath ice. "I want to tell you how I became able to breath ice instead of fire," he said quietly. "It all happenened while I was still in the egg and my parents were out hunting one. One day my egg rolled out of the nest and landeds in a pile of ice and snow and wasn't discovered until my parents returned from their hunting trip. I heard that my mother franticaly tried to warm my egg back up to save me. When all the other eggs hatched mine didn't and they were about to give up hope when I finally did hatch. It was later discovered that the cold had affected me in the egg as I was able to breath ice and withstand very cold temperatures while high heat would sap my energy," he said while noticing that when he finished they had reached the exit to the caves. "We won't go far just into the forest that is not far from here so that you can see some of the animals and see what the forest looks like when not covered in snow," he said as he happily pointed in the direction of the forest. |

While they walked through Frostica listened to Storm as he told her about how he became able to breathe ice. My ability to breathe ice and withstand cold temperatures happened almost the same way, except my egg was frozen in a solid wall of ice. she said, when he had finished. Then she noticed that they had reached the entrance to the caves. She listened to Storm say that they wouldn't go very far into the forest, and saw him point in the direction of the forest. Ok, let's go there then. she said, walking out of the caves. She shuddered as the sunlight hit her. Although clouds were covering the sun, it still was a lot warmer that what she was used to. Frostica used her ice magic to coat herself in more ice so that she wouldn’t melt even a little bit. Then she walked into the forest. Amazed, she stared at the trees around her, with branches covered with bright green leaves. Then she saw a tall, dark green tree that didn’t have leaves on it, just some odd prickly things. She walked up to it. Cautiously, she reached up and touched them. Frostica quickly drew her paw back, realizing that they were needles. She turned her head towards Storm. Is this a pine tree? she asked, pointing to the tree in front of her. |

Storm watched happily as Frostica was fascinated by everything that was around. "Yes, that is and if you look a little to your left but move slowly you will see a little rabbit out with her family next to that bush over there," he said answering her question and pointing over her shoulder to the left a bit. "And if you look up in the trees you will see all kinds of birds flitting around from branch to branch," he said as he pointed up at a small dove flitting around in the tree over their heads. "And over there is a deer and her baby at that stream," he said pointing finally at a female deer with a small fawn at a stream that was off to their right. 'It has been a while since I just took in the beauty of the world around me,' he thought as he stood and took in the beauty of the forest as he watched Frostica's reaction to the things around her. |

Frostica looked at all the things that Storm had pointed out, but the most interesting thing to her was the tiny rabbits that hopped around their mother. Their brown fur looks so soft! she thought. She took a cautious step toward them, but the mother rabbit heard her approaching and quickly hopped past the bush and farther into the forest, the smaller rabbits following close behind. Frostica turned to the doe and the fawn, so much smaller than her, and tried to walk toward them as quietly as she could, but the fawn’s large ears pricked up and it lifted its head to see what had made the noise. The fawn’s eyes widened and it turned and ran away. The doe, noticing that the fawn was fleeing, followed, her short white tail lifted high in the air. Frostica took another step forward while watching them bound away. They fled at the sight of me… I guess I must look very scary to them. Frostica said, and laughed. Then she looked down, and noticed that one of her paws had been submerged in the stream. She lifted her paw, which now looked more like a boot with ice covering the whole paw. Look! Frostica said, turning toward Storm. The water froze around my foot! She quickly shook her paw, and the excess ice fell off and broke into pieces on the ground, revealing her paw again. |

Storm was happy that Frostica was happy, seeing her having so much fun was making this one of the best days he had ever had. He watched as she tried to go to the rabbits and deer and they ran as most animals did when a dragon is nearby. He listened as she made a comment about the animals being afraid of her and laughed, that is something he will never forget, her laugh is like music to him and he silently swears to make her laugh more. Then she shows him how the water in the stream froze around her paw and shakes the ice off. "we have been out for a while and you must be getting hungry would you like me to freeze something for you to eat," Storm asked noticing that they had already been out for several hours. |

It's all right, I can make some ice myself. said Frostica, using her ice magic to freeze some of the water in the air. A medium-sized piece of ice fell to the ground in front of her when she had finished. She bent down and cut it in two with her sharp claws, then proceeded to eat one half, then the other. When she had finished, she looked up through a gap in the trees, sensing heat. The sun had come out and was beaming down from the center of the sky. You're right, we have been out for a while. It's noon already, and the sun's come out. Frostica said to Storm. Hmm... The sun's real harsh now on my skin... Better coat it with more ice. she thought, using her ice magic and spreading a thin layer of ice all over her slightly melting skin.

Storm watched as Frostica used her ice magic to make some ice to eat and eat it before covering herself in more ice. "There is a clearing a little farther into the forest that has a small pond in it I would like to show you if you would follow me," Storm said as he turned to walk farther into the forest. It didn't take long for them to reach the clearing but the clearing was occupied by a dragon that looked like a wolf with wings. "Hello," Storm said to the strange looking dragon. Leo had heard of an area made of ice in this land and he wanted to explore it. He had been flying for a while towards the icy area and his wings were tired, when he saw a clearing in the forest below him and decided to rest for a while. the clearing was a nice sized clearing with a small pond in the center that had a small waterfall running into it. Leo sat down by the side of the pond and drank some of the cool water. He was relaxing and enjoying the peace when he sensed a prescence behind him. He turned when he heard someone say, "Hello," to him. He saw an eastern dragon and a dragon made of ice standing at the edge of the clearing. "Hello, it is nice to meet you, my name is Leo, what is yours," he asked curiosly looking at the two new arrivals. |

Frostica listened to Storm as he said that he wanted to show her a small pond in the forest, and followed him when he started to walk. The forest is so full of things I know nothing about... she thought as she marveled at the colorful flowers and trees. A black bird rested in a tall tree with odd wavy leaves and made an unusual call. She watched it in fascination until it flared its wings and flew away. Another bird she saw was beating its wings so fast they were green blurs on its sides as it flew--no, hovered in front of a flower. The flowers were fascinating as well, coming in all shapes, sizes, and colors. One of the things that puzzles Frostica were the odd bloated growths on the rotting trees. They didn't look like flowers, so what were they? Finally, they reached the clearing. The pond looked very pretty with the sunlight making the surface shimmer. A dragon covered in fur sat by it, and Frostica was curious about who this was. She watched as Storm greeted the dragon, and the dragon greeted them in reply, saying that his name was Leo. Hello! she said cheerfully, stepping forward into the clearing. My name is Frostica. She didn't introduce Storm, thinking that it might be rude. |
