Controler of chaos
Name: Finn

Dragon Type: Western European

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Clan: None

Clan position desired: None

Desired Magic:

Lightning: Mastered. Finn has the ability of both breathing lightning and controlling the electricity gathering in storm clouds, which costs him less energy. His lightning breath can reach up to 40ft. It is almost an instantaneous attack, as it travels at the speed of light, but each time he uses it, he needs to charge for the next one. Depending on the time he charges, the attack becomes stronger. However, at its strongest, the attack will cause only severe pain and stunning for up to four seconds, depending on the other dragon's size and abilities. His breath in this way can not prove fatal in itself. Lightning hits from clouds he diverted are weaker in nature, though they cost him much less energy and he doesn't need to recharge. Water: Strong.

Water: Very Strong. He has the ability to control most bodies of watger, though not the very small ones. Thus said, he can raise and carry water from sources with ease, or raise water through the ground if it’s from an underground source, but can’t raise the moisture itself. He can somewhat control rain, though his control is erratic at best, but has absolutely no control over moisture in the air. An interesting extension of his powers is that blood is a liquid, and therefore he has some ability over it. Because it’s not pure water, however, his control is lessened. He can still make blood vessels rupture upon contact with a dragon’s flank, though, as his control is limited, the damage isn’t too severe unless he hits a major artery.

Wind: Mastered. His wind ability is his strongest, after Lightning. With this ability, the sky is extremely hospitable, as he can cause updrafts to ease his flight, or create sandstorms to blind an enemy or cause him to have much greater difficulty in flying.

Appearance: Finn is quite a well-built dragon for his age, his body lean, yet muscled. He’s 20ft tall from the ground to the shoulder, while being roughly 41ft long, neck and triangular head counted. His wingspan measures 82ft roughly, with a one foot gap between the shoulder blades. Because of his Wind magic, Finn can still achieve high speeds when flying, despite not being lithe and slim-built, though he isn’t as agile as a smaller dragon would be and won’t reach their flying skills, even with his magic. For this reason, he prefers close combat, not allowing the other dragon to fly circles around him. Here, his wind magic will help him close the distance between himself and his opponent.

Finn’s body is covered in sleek scales the color of light turquoise, giving him an iridescent sheen in the light. At night, that iridescence turns to a slightly ghostly shine, as his scales easily pick up moonlight and reflect it. The scales on his underside are a soft, powdery teal instead of the turquoise of the scales lining his neck, back and legs. Each scale, an elongated diamond shape with a slightly curved end, is able to rise, as if in goosebumps, allowing him to cool down when necessary, or slide close to his body to reduce air resistance and protect from a potential attack.

His eyes are a darker shade of teal than his scales, with black irises in the center that are vertical, like a cat’s. However, there are some flecks of blue in his left eye, which has a lower sight percentage than the other eye. In short, his right side’s his best side, as his vision is better. It hinders him most in judging distances, which can cause problems in many aspects of everyday life, such as landing, hunting and especially, combat.

His wings are located behind his forelegs and he has a habit of unfurling and giving them a good shake now and then. The translucent membrane that keeps him airborne is a soft, powdery green in color.

From the back of his skull to the tip of his tail protrude ivory-write spikes that progressively grow and dwindle in size, with the longest being roughly halfway down his back. His teeth are similar in color, with forty two canines on his bottom jaw, the gaps between which are filled in by forty three on his upper jaw. Each paw has five main talons, with a dew claw on the back on each leg that is much smaller and weaker than the others.

If one looks closer, there is a line running down the right side of his neck, about a foot long, that’s a powdery green color, a scar from a previous fight. There’s a similar scar on his right thigh as well. The reason most of his battle scars are on his right side is because, as previously mentioned, that’s the side his vision is better on. During a battle, unconsciously, he bares that side more to his opponent, as he has a better chance of defending it.

Personality: Finn is a boisterous young adult that seems to not have grown up. When he’s in a good mood and has too much energy, he loves prancing about and tackling other dragons, or generally just engaging in energy-consuming activities. Like a small child, he’ll complain a bit when his partner runs out of energy, though always good-naturedly.

His childish side is mostly when he’s too hyped-up, which happens every now and them. He’s generally a calm dragon who tries to keep an even head as often as possible. Most of the time, he’s in a gently playful and teasing mood, trying to keep the mood light and spirits high. He may show-off when in such a mood, but mostly to entertain. If he loses his cool and he gets angry, it confuses him afterwards. During his anger, he may hurt another dragon, mostly with words, something which he regrets afterwards. Something he despises is hurting others. He has a deep love for everything living and tries to respect everyone, though many times he catches himself scorning someone or waiting for them to earn his respect. He’s still learning.

His personality wasn’t always so. When he was younger, he was much brasher than he is now. A dragon who didn’t consider it much to hurt another dragon and was generally a great show-off and boaster. He got into fights. However, the events of his life acted as a slap in the face and woke him up. His current sentiments were forged through work and thought, giving him new perspectives. Some things, like the fights, he left behind just to escape from that side of his past.

Some things, however, take more time to change than others. He’s somewhat cautious and reserved when meeting new people, not voicing strong opinions or sentiments until he gets to know them better. This trait is gradually diminishing as he becomes more trusting, but it has yet to vanish completely. Despite his calm demeanor, he is often impatient and barely holds his patience with others. As he is intelligent, he used to be very impatient with others, considering them beneath his level. That’s slowly leaving him as he meets new people and accepts their own intelligence, as well as the fact that their ideas may be just as good, or better, as his own. He is occasionally annoyed by that, but with a deep breath, he banishes the sentiment.

As he’s been in numerous fights in his past, he knows the necessity of it and will fight whenever necessary, to protect himself and those around him. However, something he does very scarcely is take a life. If possible, he will render a dragon unable to strike back, without killing him, though he’ll do so if he must. He’s had too much fighting and blood for a lifetime.

He’s very gentle towards hatchlings and elder dragons, which he’s come to respect, again reshaping his scorn into a better sentiment. Towards the dragoness he loves, he is always loving and tender, though preferably does that when alone. If he reveals personal emotions like that with others, he will either trust them a lot, or will be emotionally overcome. An emotion he doesn’t ever share with others is his fear of losing those he loves to someone like the dragon he once was. For his love, he would give up his own life if necessary, and gladly so. However, he is not an extremist and will avoid it if possible, preferring to use other methods to protect those he loves.

Thus he is engaged in a fight with himself to redeem himself. It has now become easier and more natural, as his nature changed, but still he feels he carries guilt over his past. If there is something he loves, it’s helping others and doing what he feels serves the greater good.

History: Finn was born to Pixel and Gabbit, two loner dragons who lived on the Great Plains. He was one in a clutch of five eggs, of which only three hatched. His two sisters, Jet and Brail were his mother’s favorites, for which he always resented them, but took care of them for his mother’s sake. He had always loved his mother very dearly, which was why he put up with everything. Though his sisters and he got on together, their parents often fought, even in front of them. He only noticed this vaguely once he was one years old, but it didn’t concern him.

It did when he was four, however, as his father left his mother, himself and his sisters to their own fate, going his own way. In a way, this was another alienating factor for him, as his mother laid upon him the responsibilities of his father, even though he was so young. By the time he was seven, he was sick of being at home with them, though he still loved them like he couldn’t help but do. Something he loved was when his mother taught him magic, as she was proficient and he had discovered his potential at several branches of the arcane.

One day, however, when he and his sisters were returning from the hunt, they found their mother lying motionless in the sun outside the den, the ground around her dark. To their horror, they saw that she had been brutally attacked, raped and then killed, just left outside her home to rot in the run. They were hardly eight years of age.

One of his sisters, Jet, used her fire magic to burn her remains and for two days and nights, they all three stayed by her side, watching her carcass burn away until only a fine dust was left, scattered about in the wind. Still they stayed there, unsure of what to do, for another three days. Only when the sun rose on the sixth day since they discovered their mother’s body did Finn say they had to move numbly. His sisters agreed numbly and the trio left the Great Plains, moving north, just roaming the lands of the Free.

With their mother gone, however, Finn found his sisters to be a steadily growing burden. For weeks he cared for them and provided as his mother had done, spoiling them, but it piled up until one night, he snapped. Brail had been complaining about the dust that blew into her eyes, as if expecting Finn to fix it for her. He could, with his wind magic, but he wasn’t so inclined. The scene escalated into a fight and it ended with the teal dragon chasing his two sisters off, finally able to be alone. He relished his final freedom, rid of his last remaining burdens. He avoided thinking of what he had done or what they would become, focusing on the present.

All alone, few showed him kindness. It was a life of toil and solitude, where before he had always had company. Though he wouldn’t have thought it, he soon began to feel desperately lonely and craved company, but not that of the other dragons he met. He spent months searching for companionship, companionship he finally found in the face of Ezril.

Ezril was a loner just like he was, but of a different nature. He, too, craved company, but his instincts were different. When the two crossed paths, at first it almost came to a confrontation, but, through taunts, they discovered they were in much the same situation and paired up. Ezril’s way was simple; kill those dragons they met that were weaker than them and steal all they had by way of food, to avoid having to do mundane things like hunt themselves. Finn soon was caught up in it and felt Ezril’s words of superiority and of purging the world of weaklings to be quite true.

He was twelve and a half years old when this mantle of deception was lifted. He had lived with Ezril for about four years now, and was well used to their routine. For four days, they had followed a pair of male dragons flying southwards and that night, they were going to strike. As twilight fell, they made their moves and engaged in battle, flashes of energy and roars of pain and battle echoing in the valley. To the pair’s shock, it drew the attention of two females, presumably their mates, who joined the fray. The males were all but dead, but the females fought ferociously, injuring them before they could kill them. Ezril died in combat.

Finn was forced to land, heavily injured, when he saw one of the females he had attacked. It was Brail. Her lifeblood was pooling on the ground, saturating it and turning it a deep, crimson color. To his horror, though he did what he could, she slipped away by his side, after using the last of her energy to stop his bleedout. This last act of love shook him so greatly that he stayed by her side for days, not moving even to hunt, curled up by her side amidst the five rotting corpses.

As one who is pulled out of water when he didn’t even realize he was submerged, the first deep breaths of air were excruciating, yet relieving. He forced himself out of the deep abyss of ceaseless and meaningless slaughter he had been immerged in, thinking of such things for a solid week. Finally, however, hunger got the better of him. Though he thought he deserved death, he was too much of a coward to accept it. It took him two months to push aside all notions of death and accepted life as a far crueler punishment than death. His personality and ways were rapidly changing; he was changing himself, reshaping his present. His goal was to redeem himself, to wash away all the blood on his paws.

It was a little past his thirteenth birthday when he met her.

As he flew over the Central Plains again, after visiting his mother’s den for the first time in many years, he felt another dragon approaching and smelt she was female. When they came within sight of each other, he was startled by her beauty and grace in the sky, never having been so much graceful himself.

She was likewise surprised and, as they greeted each other, they decided to go in the same direction, for safer company. Finn learnt her name was Aries and she was the purest person he’d ever met. He was in awe of her kindness and gentleness, and soon he grew to love her dearly. From her behavior, he felt she maybe felt as he did, but he never had the nerve to ask. They were no more than intimate friends, travelling together now for each other’s company and giving reason for the other’s existence. He felt she was his gift, his chance to fully redeem himself, to lead a new life. He so wanted to lead that new life with her.

But it wasn’t to be.

They had been together for maybe four years. One night, Aries was already asleep and he was dozing, curled up by her side, when he sensed something. Carefully leaving her, he flew eastwards and saw a monstrous sight; five huge dragons were ripping to shreds the last remnants of three draconic corpses. When they caught his scent, he was forced to flee. He recognized them. He’d narrowly avoided them often enough when he flew with Ezril. Now, it was his life on the line as he fled, leading them away from Aries, hoping to keep her safe.

All seemed desperate as he led them farther away, sure his time had come. He wished that he had had time to say goodbye to Aries, to tell her he loved her. It was his biggest regret that he hadn’t done so.

When he was beginning to lose hope, he saw some dragons flying towards him on the horizon. Without much hope, he angled towards them, but they turned out to be members of some clan who chased off his pursuit and healed his fatigue. It took him several days to recover fully, by which time, when he returned Aries was gone. For months he searched for her, combing the land, knowing he could miss her all to easily. For the past months, that’s been his only mission.
