Oasu beat his wings, each wingbeat driving air downward and making him rise slowly. The sun was high above in the sky, a bright circle in the grey sky. He knew that Akatu couldn't be too far behind him, but he didn't turn to look. He had been flying over land for a bit, and so far thought that it was a nice place, no humans. Noticing what appeared to be a waterfall glinting in the distance, Oasu angled toward it. Running water meant erosion, and erosion meant caves. And caves meant homes. Seeing a ledge about halfway up the falls, Oasu flew toward it and slowed himself. As he landed, his claws brushed the rock and created very faint white lines. He took a few steps away from the edge, the crystal in his tail glowing and tingling slightly, showing that there was indeed metal locked in the nearby rocks. Oasu smiled a bit. Good. I prefer having metal around, even if only in trace amounts. He walked further away from the edge, as this was an awfully big ledge, so there was no reason to risk falling. There was a sound of wingbeats nearby, and Oasu had a good idea who it was. |

Akatu flew behind her brother, enjoying the sights. This was a new land for them both. I hope there aren't any humans... she thought, and shuddered slightly. Haven't seen any yet, so that must be a good sign... She noticed Oasu angling toward what looked like a large waterfall in the distance. Perhaps there are caves...? She followed Oasu's flight pattern, slowly descending toward a ledge halfway up the falls. She saw Oasu open his wings to slow himself down for a landing, and pulled upward to avoid crashing into him. She circled above as he landed, waiting for him to move away from a landing spot. She stopped circling when he moved away from the edge and went in for a landing. She stretched her wings out and beat them twice, slowing her down enough to land on the ledge. She walked up on the right side of Oasu. The jewel on the end of her tail tingled, sensing raw metal nearby. Well, this is just getting better and better. She walked up on the right side of Oasu. Seems like there's no humans here, there's metal, and there's water. Akatu said. She looked into the roaring waterfall. Let's hope our luck keeps up. |

Oasu watched as Akatu landed on the ledge and nodded at her words. I believe that you're right. If there were any humans, we would've seen some sign of them. Luck does appear to be on our side this time, sister. Oasu looked at the water rushing down beside the ledge they were sitting on. He looked back at his sister. The caves are probably behind the falls. We should probably start there. He turned and pointed up just below where the falls began pouring over the edge of the lake above. There was more of a space between the water and rock here, and any caves up there would be slightly easier to get into. There was still enough distance between the water and the rock further down that the lower caves were still easily accessible, but the caves near the top would have a better vantage point and view. |

Akatu listened to Oasu as he spoke to her. I hope he's right... She looked up as he pointed up to the top of the falls and listened as he said that they should probably start looking for caves there. Okay. Let's go. she said to him. She turned towards the side of the falls, and jumped off, spreading her wings and gliding over to the other side. Looking up, she noticed ledges and began to climb up on them. She kept climbing until she reached the top of the waterfall. The massive amounts of water pouring down it amazed her. She looked below her and saw Oasu quite far down. The gem at the end of her long, black tail tingled slightly, telling that her that there was even more raw metal here. There's more metal up here, too! she called down to Oasu. This will definitely make a good home for us. |

Oasu sighed as Akatu leapt off the side of the falls. One day she's going to hurt herself doing that... He continued to watch as Akatu climbed up from ledge to ledge, stopping at the very top. She yelled down to him, but her words sounded faint compared to the roar of the water. There's more metal up here, too! This will definitely make a good home for us. Oasu nodded before flapping his wings and flying up, circling upward with a bit of help from his wind magic. He flew next to his sister and settled on the ledge next to his sister. It extended behind the falls, a good sign. Now we just have to check to see if there's a cave or two up here. Oasu walked along the ledge, widening it slightly with his magic to be sure that he didn't fall. There, directly behind the water, were several caves, each roughly 40 feet apart. Hey Akatu, come here, I found some. |

Akatu watched as Oasu flew up and landed next to her. She nodded as he said that they needed to check to see if there were caves, and watched as he walked along the ledge, widening it slightly. Akatu's large ears pricked up as he said that he found some. She bounded over to him and saw that he had found several caves behind the waterfall. They look big enough for us to live in. Let's see if they're suitable. She took a deep breath and plunged through the roaring water, feeling it pound roughly against her. As soon as her whole body passed through the wall of water, the pressure went back to normal and she found herself in a large cave filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The gem on her tail pulsed suddenly. There's lots of metal here! she called to him, walking up to the cave wall and touching the tip of her snout to it, recognizing its scent as rather metallic. She drew her head away, putting her paw on the wall and scraping some of the dust away. She looked back to Oasu. What kind of metal is in this rock? she asked.

Oasu watched as Akatu flew to the face of the waterfall and plunged through the front of the water. He grumbled in slight frustration at her apparent disregard for her own safety. Is she trying to get hurt? What if she hits the rock? He sighed before walking along the ledge to the cave that Akatu had landed in. He heard her voice rising as she found more metal. Stepping into the cave, Oasu was greeted with the scent that always accompanied metal deposits. He took a deep breath, letting the scent fill his nose as he saw Akatu pressing her own snout to the wall. He smiled slightly at the sight, for even though he knew what she was doing, it still looked rather funny. He walked closer as she pulled her nose away from the wall and scraped off some of the dust. He mimicked the motion, letting the dust settle on the scales of his paw. He brought it up to his eyes, studying it before inhaling deeply. He thought a few moments before speaking It seems to be mostly iron, with a small amount of Zinc, but I think there may be some Tungsten or Silver here too. Just a small amount, not enough to make much of a difference. He smiled before placing the dust on the floor of the cave. All I know is that this is good metal for shaping and molding.

Bukefalos watched the two dragons in amusement. He’s never seen these two before, and wondered where they had come from. Why do they not notice me? he thought. He watched as the smaller one, most likely a girl, flew around some rocks. From the place where he lay, near the roaring falls, water getting splattered where his wings were spread out, he felt like he were the only one there. But with the other two, just trying to find something, he felt like he were intruding a moment. He didn’t know if he should let them know if he were there or not, so he just stayed where he was. I wonder if I should do something… he thought. He stretched, the top of his wings hitting some tree branches, making a loud sound. Oops… He looked up to see if the other two had heard him. |

Akatu listened closely as Oasu described the contents of the rock walls, saying that it had amounts of iron, zinc, tungsten and silver. The he told her that it was good metal for shaping and molding. Akatu grinned. Well then, looks like we've found some great homes for ourselves. Finally, away from humans. Now all we have to do is to find another one and decide who wants which one. Suddenly, she heard the sound of something hitting tree branches, making the leaves rustle. Her head snapped up and her ears pricked. She turned towards the wall of water in front of the entrance to the cave. Brother? What do you think that was? she asked. It sounded large--perhaps as large as another dragon. She could only hope that it had no intention of flying up and attacking them. |
