Young Adult Dragon

At the top of the Vervion falls, Calyptic has been sitting for about and hour.... thinking. He left early in the morning after being awakened from an nightmare. To him, it was more like a memory. It was about his parents being murdered by a lone bull. At that time, he was helpless and unable to defend his family. In his dream, he sees them being ripped to shreds while he is hiding, afraid even to move. He had been hiding under some bushes. When the bull was finished with his parents, he started looking for Calyptic. Eventually he did, but dragons from Calyptic's clan had heard a commotion and hurried to where they were. Calyptic had been lucky that day because the bull gave him and evil look and said "I will find you one day, your lucky your clan is coming, otherwise you would be dead in a matter of seconds youngling. After he said that he flew off. That face and look had forever been embedded into his memory and he would never forget it. Coming back to the present, he closed his eyes and shook his head violently. "I should have protected them! he shouted with such fury that his whole body shook. |

(and this is what happens most days in the clan XD) Cobra was awakened by Calyptic moving out of their den. She watched him leave and figured he needed a little time to himself. She looked around to see most of the clan asleep. She saw that Kodak was waking up some younger dragons getting ready for patrol. I'm taking them out for their daily training Cobra, did I wake you? Ok, and no you didn't wake me up. She chuckled to herself when she heard the protests of the younger dragons. They werent used to being woken up at such an early hour. She got up and directed where she thought the best huntimg spot would be to the hunters. She then looked at the children and saw one fall off of a small dune onto the ground. She called over the healer and told her that the hatchling probably broke something. She then walked outside telling her beta and betess that she was going out to find Calyptic. She followed his scent to the falls and saw him at the top. She heard him yell something, frustrated, but she couldnt catch what he said. She flew up to him and landed next to him, careful not to work too hard. She could tell the eggs would be layed soon, she just hoped it wasnt going to be today of all days. Is everything alright my lord? You seem mad. She scooched close to him and licked his neck trying to calm him down. She looked at the clear blue sky and was thankful that she was by the falls so the water could take away most of the heat. Also that the mist took off some of the glare on her emerald scales. |

Calyptic was so caught up in his anger and frustration of his memories that he didn't even hear or smell Cobra coming. He turned around and snarled at her. When he saw that it was her, he became calmer but he felt horrible that he snarled at her."I'm sorry my lady, I didn't mean to snarl at you." He had sadness in his eyes. He had so much anger in him that he could not contain it, remembering how his parents died brought his anger out. He closed his eyes and layed down. Then he looked at Cobra. I woke you up didn't I? he asked. When he left in such a hurry he must have woken her up in the process. If I did then i'm sorry. |

Cobra flinched back as he turned and snarled at him. A hurt look in her eyes. She could tell he was seething with anger though, and knew he didn't mean it, his words enforcing it. She licked his neck again and watched him lay down. She layed down next to him and started to enjoy the veiw. She could feel the egss weighing heavily in her stomach and wondered what Calyptic thought of it. What snapped her out of it was him apologising for waking her up. It's ok dear. I would have woken up soon anyways. Did you have a bad dream? I hope not....I just wonder what his are about, we both seem to have something haunting us these days... She looked at him, her eyes bright and cheerful, trying to get him out of the mad mood. She knew that it would take more than thatto calm him down though. She'd let him tell her on his own terms, she didn't like pushing for anything. |

Calyptic took a big sigh. She looked at him with bright, cheery eyes. Eyes that he could trust. I guess it's ok to tell her. he thought. Yes I did have a bad dream. He paused. Well, it was more like a memory. My parents were murdered by a bull dragon. He..... tore them to shreds, and I saw. He started to tremble. He took a deep breath and tried to calm down. When he was finished with them he started to look for me. That face flashed in his mind. It took a while but he eventually found me. He was about to kill me when my clan was coming. He couldn't say anymore. Ever since that incident, he hasn't told anyone about his past. He would always stay away from others or just kept quiet. Cobra was another story. She treated him like nobody ever did. He could trust her with all his heart. Maybe he could learn to trust more. Maybe coming into this clan was the best thing he ever did. |

She nodded as he said what had happened to him when he was younger. She sighed deeply, knowing what he was going through, even losing her little brother on her journey away from home. She rested her tail on his back and wrapped her neck around his. I am sorry for what you had to go through...I know you feel. My family was also killed in front of me although they were not ripped to shreds. It left me to look after my little brother on my own. He soon died of starvation though because I could not feed the both of us. I barely knew how to hunt. Thats when I found a couple of other dragons that were alone. They decided to take me in and then some other dragons wanted to join. They killed my best friend before I was able to kill them and send one running. Then we found a group of sand dragons that shunned me because I was not of their kind. I was left alone because I told them to join. Thats when I found this clan and soon enough they let me be Alphess. Although I had a competitor she let me have the position I think... Those memories are fuzzy. Then a male came and went and I found you. She unwrapped her neck and nuzzled him in the snout. Although I think I have spotted that other male a little while ago. I'm just glad I have you. She knew that they both trusted each other more than ever because that was the first time she told the full extent of the story. Before, she had left out that she had killed the dragons.

After Calyptic told her what had happened, he heard her sigh deeply and rested her tail on his back and wrapped her neck around his. She told him that she was sorry for what he went through and that she knew how she felt. It looks like I'm not the only one who has lost family. he thought. Cobra told him that her family was also killed in front of her, which left her to look after her brother. She said he soon died of starvation because she could not feed them both. At least she had siblings to take care of, I had none. he thought again. But her brother didn't live very long after that. I wonder how she must have felt after loosing the last family she had. After that she joined a group of dragons but her best friend was killed. She was then made Alphess of the Kukiron clan when she found it. Then a male came through then ,Calyptic joined the clan. She said the memories were fuzzy. Then she nuzzled his snout. She said she was glad to have him. Well. he said. I guess we have more in common than I thought. Then he rested his chin on her head. I'm glad to have you as well. You treat me like no one has ever done. It feels like I've know you my entire life, even though we just met. |

She thought about both of their lives when he said they had more in common than he thought. I guess we do. She chuckled quietly to herself. Will I be able to live with him knowing Naltanar is close by? I will and I can. I know it, we have more in common than what I knew I had with Nalt... She looked at him and smiled. I love you so much Calyptic. I don't know what I would do if I lost you. I would never find a way to move on. She looked down the falls and wondered what life would be like not having a mate still. Thank god I have him. If I didn't I would have to take care of the eggs alone. I wouldn't have anyone to help me through what happened to me. I just plain wouldn't have anyone I could love... Having him here with her made her all that much happier. Calyptic? Do you promis not to tell the hatchlings your not their father until their old enough? And, are you sure you don't mind that these arn't yours? These questions have been bugging her for the longest time. She knew she could trust in him but with what happened in her lifetime, she never could be sure. |

Cobra agreed with him saying that they do have more in common than he thought. Then she said she loved him so much and that she wouldnt know what to do if she lost him. No one had ever cared so much for him before, not since his parents were murdered. I love you too Cobra he said. I've never really loved anyone before, well, not until I met you. You treat me how no one has ever done, and I respect that. I think they were right to choose you as Alphess. Your kind. Kinder than any other dragoness I've met. Then she asked him to promise not to tell her hatchlings that he is not their father until they are old enough. She also asked if he didn't mind if they were not his. Of course I don't mind. What happened to you wasn't your fault and I would not judge you for something you couldn't control. |

Cobra blushed as Calyptic said that they were right to name her Alphess. Also that she was the only one to treat him the way she did. Thank you. No one has eveer been so open to me before you came. She licked his neck and looked into his eyes again, his beautiful gray black eyes. She smiled as he said that he wouldn't tell her children and that what happened to her wasn't her fault. I know it wasn't my fault. But, I did run from the clan in a way that an Alphess should not. I showed them a weak dragon, one who couldn't control herself to keep her clan safe and happy. And then that happened. I feel like none of my children will be treated the way they should be just because of who their father really is. I'm also afraid something will be said to them before I'm ready to tell them. I don't want them to know until they are old enough to understand. And what if one of them turns out like him? I wouldn't be able to raise it without loosing control. She looked down and knew that she worried too much. That she should't be worrying so much. She had a mate, a trusting clan, hatchlings soon. Life was good, her stomach hurt, she felt nausiouse, and she had nothing to worry about. She walked over to the edge of the falls looking down and getting dizzy. She vomited into the water and wiped her maw, turning back to Calyptic with a nervous smile. Sorry about that. |

When Calyptic said that the clan was right to name Cobra Alphess, she blushed and thanked him. No one has ever been so open to me before you came. Then she licked his neck and looked into his eyes again. Then she smiled when he replied about not telling her children that he wasn’t their real father and what happened wasn’t her fault. Then she said, I know it wasn't my fault. But, I did run from the clan in a way that an Alphess should not. I showed them a weak dragon, one who couldn't control herself to keep her clan safe and happy. And then that happened. I feel like none of my children will be treated the way they should be just because of who their father really is. I'm also afraid something will be said to them before I'm ready to tell them. I don't want them to know until they are old enough to understand. And what if one of them turns out like him? I wouldn't be able to raise it without loosing control. He shook his head when she was done. I wasn’t here when that happened or why you did it, he started, but everyone has a little weakness in them, including me and not everybody’s perfect. No one has complete control of their emotions, and no one should be treated horrible just for who their parent is, I promise to take care of that if that ever happens, and we will have to tell the clan not to say something about it before they hatch. When she said something about what if one of them turns out like him, Calyptic said, I will help you raise your children right, teach them wrong from right, as if they really were my own. Then he rested his lower jaw on top of her head, you also worry to much, no one knows the future of anything or anyone, you never know, maybe they’ll turn out more like you than him. Then she got up and walked to the edge of the falls and then vomited. Calyptic knew what made her do that but didn’t care. Then she apologized. He walked over to her put one of his massive wings over her and said, That’s ok, and nuzzled her under her jaw. You have nothing to worry about love. I will take care of you and the hatchlings and make sure none of those things happen. |

Cobra listened silently as Calyptic told her his thoughts. That they had no control over their emotions at times, and that no one was perfect. She then thought about their children and who their father was. It would have been nice if she at least knew his name. Then she would have something to tell herchildren. A face without a name is no face at all. She nodded slightley as Calyptic told her that he would raise their children right, that they would know right from wrong and that he would treat him as if they were his own. For all we know now, they are yours. They aren't anyone elses until the time comes to tell the children. She lowered her head slowly as Calyptic laid his head on hers. She knew she was loved and trusted. That she wa in good paws. She forgot about the past, the ones who had hurt her and only thought about the present. She did worry too much. She liked the thought of having little ones turn out like her. They would be loyal and nice, caring and forgiving. The thoughts made her feel better and Calyptic's presence made everything better. I love you Calyptic. I came here with depressing thoughts and I will leave with happy love filled thoughts. I love you my lord. |

When Calyptic told Cobra what was on her mind, she listened silently. When he was done she said For all we know now, they are yours. They aren't anyone elses until the time comes to tell the children. He only nodded his head. Then she lowered her head as he put his head on the top of hers. They sat there in silence when she said I love you Calyptic. I came here with depressing thoughts and I will leave with happy love filled thoughts. I love you my lord. He didn't know that she was depressed when she came, but was happy to know that she would leave the opposite. I love you too, My Lady. And I am happy that you will leave with thoughts opposite when you came here. I think by me coming here that I learned more about you and you me. He felt at peace now. With Cobra here, the nightmare was gone from his memory. The bulls horrible face was blank in his mind and gone. The incident of his past was fading more and more. Being here, with Cobra and the clan, had changed the way he looked on life. The thought of noone loving him was gone and him loving noone, gone as well. So.. he said, taking his head off of Cobras. What shall we do now Alphess? With a sincere smile on his face. |

Cobra gave out a content sigh as they lay there, his head on hers. She didn't want to say anything whe he said that they both learned a lot about each other, but she agreed. They certainly had, no doubt about it. Everything but now was fading from her thoughts. Yes, they would come back but for now they were silent and gone, bothering her no more this day. Everything was better. She finally had a mate that she knew would never leave her. And he was fit to be the Alpha. He didn't seem scared, and he trusted in himself. He was exactly what a clan leader should be, like her... She lifted her head to look at him when he lifted his. She looked deep into his eyes, almost not hearing the question. She looked out away from the feilds, thinking of what they could do since she couldn't do much in her condition. Hmmm... That is a good question. Well, I can't fly that much, so anything that has to do with the air is out of the question. But, I can do things on the ground, like swimming or just walking around. Or, we could just lay here waiting for the sunset to come. |
