Name: Eddant Nickname: Ed Dragon type: Western Age: 15 Gender: Male Clan: --- Position: --- Magic (Strength) Darkness: Mastered Healing: Mastered Earth: Strong Appearance: The scales that cover Ed’s hide are a crimson color, fading slightly as it nears his feet. His feet and claws are paler, almost a grayish red. His eyes are a pure golden color and a row of black spikes runs down his spine, each ringed in red around the base. His claws are black, but his front claws are ringed in white. His front right leg and the lower half of his back right leg are mechanical, but most of the time the tech built into them makes them look as real as his other limbs. There are a few scars around the sites where they join to his body, but these are usually hidden by the camouflage tech as well. There is a small gray mark on the right side of his neck (picture of it is attached). Ed is 13 feet tall from head to the ground, 27 feet long from nose to tail, and has a wingspan of 55 feet. Personality: Ed is a bit of a hothead and is easily rubbed the wrong way, especially if someone remarks about his size. He tends to take things a step too far. Despite this, he is very protective of his sister and anything that he holds dear to his heart. He’s very stubborn and is always pushing his limits, often hoping headfirst into things without thinking them through and refuses to give up. He will readily voice his opinion on anything and will stand for what he believes is right. He often knows more about something than what he lets on. Ed doesn’t really let people know what he’s thinking or how he’s feeling, with the exception of Al. He feels as if he is the reason behind all of what he and Al have gone through, that it is his fault, but he hasn’t told this to anyone, not even Al. Ed doesn’t like to talk about his past, especially his father or how he got his robotic limbs. History: Ed was one of a clutch of two, but only his egg hatched, the other apparently stillborn. His parents waited for the egg to hatch, but they lost hope after a few months. Ed, somehow being able to sense that the egg was still alive, convinced his parents to keep the egg there, that it would hatch. Each day, when he wasn’t doing something else, he would watch over the egg, waiting for it to hatch. His father left after two years of waiting. Ed never got over this, feeling that his father had lost faith in the egg and in him. A few days later, the egg finally did hatch, and Ed had a younger sister, Altrurlan. Ed adored Al, and all was well and happy. They seemed to share a sort of link between the two of them, seeming to always know how the other was feeling. Both loved to show their mother what they could do with their magic and both befriended a dragoness who lived nearby and was around their age, the granddaughter of one of their mother’s friends. But one day, when Ed was 8, their mother collapsed on the floor of their cave. Ed and Al both went to get help, but it was too late. Their mother had died of a non-contagious disease that killed very slowly, something she probably had contracted when she was young. Ed and Al lived with their mother’s friend and her granddaughter, who taught them how to use their Earth magic more effectively. Ed and Al both decided that it would be best if they found a master to train under. After a few weeks of wandering, the found a dragoness who agreed to train them, although she told them that it’d be tough. They agreed, all too happy to be extending their range of magic. The dragoness’ name was Coclai and she trained them rigorously for a year, getting Ed to learn and master both healing and darkness magic. Ed found great pleasure in using whatever time he had to explore Coclai’s library of human books. One day, he found a book that had a theory on how to bring back the dead, as well as a spell to bind a soul to an object. He showed the first to Al, saying that they could use it to bring their mother back. At first Al was doubtful that they should try such a thing. Ed countered that they didn’t know what would happen if they didn’t try. After training one day about a week later, they went into the woods far enough away from Coclai’s cave so that she would think that they were exploring. Ed had snuck everything they needed from Coclai’s private stash of ingredients earlier that week. He drew the spell circle on the ground and assembled the ingredients. The only thing they had left to do was add some drops of their blood. Ed cut his palm with a sharpened piece of hardened shadows and let the blood fall. As soon as he saw Al’s blood hit the ground, he began to cast the spell, combining all the magic he knew together. It first it seemed to be going well, the ingredients and raw material taking form like they were supposed to, and then something went horribly terribly wrong. The ingredients became a blackened blob and Al’s body began to disappear. As Ed reached for her, the lower half of his back left leg began to dissolve like Al’s body. He screamed, both in pain and for his sister. Somehow thinking quickly through the haze of pain, Ed used his darkness magic and his healing magic to create a healing shadow box, and quickly used the ritual of binding a soul to move his sister’s soul into the box, so that she could avoid death for a bit. The box’s healing properties kept the soul intact, while the hardened shadow that formed the box eventually shaped Al’s soul into a semi-tangible form. Ed and Al could still talk with each other through their minds due to the link they shared as children. However, Ed’s use of so much magic, especially in the forbidden rituals, had cost him heavily. He had lost his left back leg below his ‘knee’ in the first ritual and his entire front right leg in saving Al’s soul. Using his last shreds of available energy, he stemmed the bleeding as much as possible before passing out. When he awoke, he found himself in a clearing near a human settlement, his wounds bandaged, and Al’s soul box on a large stump nearby. When a human came to check on him, he asked how he had got in the clearing. The human said that he had just been laying there when someone had found him. The entire village thought that he might have died, as he had been unconscious for several days. As soon as he grew somewhat accustomed to traveling and moving with only wings and two legs and eating mostly plant life (he never really liked the taste), he began traveling, hoping to find someone who could help him get Al into a new body. Every night, he would talk to Al’s soul in her box, so to be sure that she was alright and that none of her soul faded. It took him a dragon year filled with trials before he met the Scientists. They were deeply fascinated with Ed, having worked with a dragon only once before. Luckily, that one time before, they had transferred the dragon to a robot, so this was far easier for them. They quickly remedied the problem of his missing limbs by attaching automated prosthetic limbs, which the scientists called ‘Automail’. During the process, they marked the side of his neck with an ID mark. Ed was 10. They fitted him with a form of camoflauge tech integrated into the limbs to disguise them, making them look real. However, because there was only a limited amount of room for the tech, if he got in fight, the camouflage would stop working and reveal his metal limbs as the power was directed to the muscles. It took him several months to be able to use his limbs properly, and even then he was pushing himself so hard that many nights he would cough up blood. He continued to talk to Al in her box each night filling her in on things. One day when Ed had gotten a hang of the ‘Automail’, the scientists showed him a suit of armor that they had made for him. It was much larger than him, for they thought that he would grow into it. Ed saw this as an opportunity to give Al a new body. He showed her the armor and told her that the scientists had made a new body for her. He placed Al’s box into the armor and shaped it to the armor, then fused a small piece to the armor using his darkness magic. He placed it on the inside of one of Al’s neck plates. They scientists believed that Ed had wasted a suit of perfectly good armor on a box, until Al actually began to speak and move slightly. The two spent about a month with the scientists in their lab, being sure that Ed could use his limbs effeicently and that Al could move and speak as if she were real. However, she couldn’t feel, eat, or sleep due to her body being the armor. After a bit, they tried to leave, but the scientists tried to keep them there. Ed and Al realized that the only way they could leave would be by leaving in the middle of the night. That night, they snuck out of the lab and left. After 5 years of traveling, they found Selzar and decided to stay. Picture: (will attach a picture of Ed’s mark soon) Other: Ed can always tell how Al is feeling or when she’s in danger and can detach his mechanical limbs, but removing and reattaching them is an extremely painful process. (Automail is not my idea. The name comes from Fullmetal Alchemist) Edited by wyvern95, Nov 29 2009, 09:41 PM.

Magic (Strength) Darkness: Mastered Healing: Mastered Earth: Mastered Just no. Tone it down a bit! XD Ah, I see why I'd get a kick out of it. How does a hatchling convince an adult to wait on an egg? You're right, I do get a kick out of this guy. XD Back leg.. lol. Human transmutation. lolol- wait, human books? HOW does a dragon HOLD a human book, nevermind read it? If this wasn't so amusing, I'd say no, but ou've been planning this for a while, so knock yourself out. Automail, ffft. Approved. |

I'll still tone down the magic, just to make him a little more realistic. As for convincing his parents, I sort of imagined him wrapping around the egg and not letting his parents move it until he could talk, and then he just kept insisting that it wasn't dead. I imagine that he held and read those books very carefully. He probably tore quite a few by accident. And with the automail, I couldn't think of anything else to call it, so I 'borrowed' the name. |
