Kodak swam in the lake. His fear of not being near water had started up again. He thought he was done with it but knew that it could never be true. The water felt cool on his scales. He could feel all the sand from the desert wash out, making him feel clean again. The sun was shining bright with little clouds floating around. He could see light rain clouds in the distance and he couldn't wait for the rain to come. He messed with his water magic, shaping different forms of dragons. He thought of the one female he admired most in the clan, Nira. He shaped her in the water, although to most it would look like any female dragon. He was a master until it came to making other dragons he knew. He wasn't around them enough to get the looks perfect. Too much scouting ever since the Jorthian incedent. He then made a Jorthian out of the water, getting every feature perfect. He was around that one Jorthian enough to be able to get the features perfect. He then took another piece of water and sent it at the Jorthian like it was energy or lightning. All the water fell and he started to movearound again, goign under, and practicing flips. He was so concentrated he didn't smell or hear anything around him. |

 Nira had been pretty much to herself lately, not feeling like going out much. When she did go out, she wanted to be alone. In her opinion, being alone right now was the best thing for her. After all, you can't get hurt by anyone if there isn't anyone around to hurt you. Hurt, emotional pain, and sorrow, these were on the forefronts of her mind and her experiences. She hadn't let her memories of Rain and Phejorach slip away, but she was more than certain that if they were to come back they would have done so by now. Why is it always me that has to suffer though being hurt like this? Nira thought to herself moving from her den into the sky. She needed some air, and the most refreshing place to get that breath of air in the desert was at Lake Lorigara. It wasn't all that secluded but it was water, and it would provide a comfortable atmosphere for her. It would help ease her mind over the past recent events. Have I not been through enough in the first thirty years of my life to have to go through all of this now... she though to herself. She could see the lake starting to come into view ahead, and she could feel a steady drop in temperature as she started approaching it. The smell of the refreshing water already relaxing her into a gentle descent angled towards the shallows. Her hind legs settled softly onto the banks of the lake as she landed softly in the sand and padded her way into the shallows and laid on her stomach. I guess I'm just destined to be alone... she thought to herself laying her head over her wing as to not inhale any water, a tear rolling down the side of her face from the corner of her right eye. |

Once Kodak finally settled down in the water and was alertwith his surroundings he could smell Nira's scent near the lake. He saw her coming towards thelake, a look of sadness in her eyes. He saw herlay down in the shallow part of the lake. His sensitive vision also let him see a tear roll down her cheek. He knew why she was crying, she had lost her favorite adopted child and her old mate at the same time. Kodak knew how that felt and knew that she need comfort instead of lonlyness. He slowly waded over to her, making sure he was noticed so he didn't scare her too much. When he could touch the bottom he walked over to her and wiped the tear form her cheek with his wing. He then walked over to her side and sat down, not wanting to get too colse. He wanted everything comfortable for her. Nira, is it bothering you again? You don't always have to be alone, sometimes it helps to talk to someone. Someone who has a bit of experiance with the situation. He knew his situation was a bit different, but he still lost a loved one that just left him and never came back. He knew she was still alive, his mother had always cared for him but he could always hear her saying she couldn't handle him alone. He knew she had planned that someone would find him and take care of him, she just didn't know that they were basically alone, that she was leaving him with nothing, no skills, no other company. He remebered himself waiting for her, knwowing how long it could take to find a good kill and bring it home. His hope dropping everyday until he finally realised that she wasn't coming back. He looked at Nira, how her scales shined a beautiful color that you couldn't find in any other dragon. He wished he knew if he could wrap his wing around her... |

Nira could feel the currents in the water as they were pulling into the center of the lake away from the shore. It was fairly relaxing, to her, and she felt a little more at ease, but inside she was still hurting greatly. It would take nothing short of a Miracle to make her happy again. Another tea started to role down her eye, but this time she felt something wipe it away from her eye. She looked up to see what exactly that it was, she saw Kodak standing right in front of her, moving over to her side. He asked if it was bothering her again, but she knew that he already knew the answer to that question. It's been the only thing she could think about since it happened. Abandonment isn't something that can be easily forgotten. He told her that it helps to talk to someone that had a bit of experience in the situation. Why is it always me... Nira started. I've never had a chance to lean any kind of a happy life. Apparently my father made sure of that... she said her head drooping even further. He stole my mother away from me when I was four, and my life has been hell ever since, and Luthicia made everything worse when she was still inside of me. I though that things were finally going to change when I met rain and Pejorach... She said trying to take a breath through her partially blocked nostrils from her tears. Then they, just like everyone in the past abandoned me as well. What have I done so wrong that I deserve all of this? Doesn't anyone understand that I couldn't control the actions in my past? she yelled almost in a full breakdown. Why does everyone have to hurt me now... She couldn't hold anything in anymore. She was too upset. The thoughts that were piling up in her mind about her ruined life only made things worse. Her tears flowed from her eyes now like minuscule little rivers from her eyes cascading from the base of her cheek into the surface of the lake. I've though about just ending it all... she said through her utterly destroyed emotions. It's obvious that there wouldn't be anyone that would miss me if I did... she stated aloud not knowing Kodak's true feelings towards her. I just want it to stop... she said whimpering and weeping while trying to catch her breath. |

Kodak listened to her say that everyone had left her. That her father had made sure that she wouldn't have a happy life. That she couldn't control the actions of her past.I know you didn't mean anything you did in your past. I may not understand what has happened to you fully but I know the pain your in. I'd never hurt you... I would always be there for you. He got closer and finally made up his mind. She needed to know how he felt about her, and today. He wrapped his wing around her, hugging her tighter to him. He wasmt surprised when she siad she had thought about ending it all. He knew tha in a state like this, that it was a common thought. He leaned his head in until his mouth was next to Nira's ears. He wispered in her ear. Nira, you don't know what you would put me through if you ended yor life... I would care the most in the clan if you were gone. And yes, all of the clans would miss you. He knew now was a good time but had a hard time putting it into words. Nira, I have had such intense feelings of love for you. Im surprised you havn't noticed all the longing looks I give you... I don't think I could live without seeing you everyday. He moved his head back and stared into her eyes, showing her the eyes of a truthful dragon. |

The sound of Kodak's voice towards Nira was all to familiar. She heard him tell her that he would always be there for her. It was the same thing that her mother told her before her father killed her, and it was the same thing that Pheja and Rain had told her before they had abandoned her. How could she believe those words ever again? How could she open herself up to only get hurt by everyone else again? She sniffed, I'll be there for you... I'd like to believe that, if everyone else that had said that hadn't abandoned me then it might be easier to believe, she said sorrowfully. Kodak was in a since always there for here. It was Kodak that helped her back to the clan after both of her fights with the Jorthian. She felt him place his wing on her back. For some reason it made her feel a bit more content. Maybe it was because it was just the feel of another dragon around her. A change in pace from her being along. What he then said next was expected from what she had said, that it would hurt him the worst if anything happened to her, and that all the clans would miss her. It was what he said after that though, that caught her attention. He told her that he had such an intense feeling of love for here, and that he was surprised that she never noticed all the longing looks that he had given her. In all honest she hadn't known. She hadn't paid attention to anything in the clan really after she had been abandoned. Instead she was just waiting for the day the clan turned on her as well just like the last one did and kick her from it. She didn't know what to believe right now, but she leaned into his wings and began to cry a bit harder. I want to believe you, I really do... I've just been hurt so many times that I'm afraid to believe anything anymore. She saw him angle himself to look in her eyes. His were soft and truthful. She could just imagine what she looked like right now. Weak, feeble, and filled with hurt, which is exactly how she felt. He was helping a little bit, but she still felt completely unwanted. Like he was only saying that to try to cheer her up. Do I really want to risk getting hurt again? She thought to herself looking into Kodak's eyes again. She had to stop and realize that if he didn't care for her, he could have just went on his way and not even bother to stop to try to cheer her up. That and if he had been admiring her for a while as he had stated, then maybe. I'll risk it... no matter what happens though, I'll never be hurt again. If this one doesn't work, I'll breath no more... she though to herself hoping that this time things would be different. She moved closer to Kodak, as close as she could to get almost her entire body touching him. Kodak... she started nervously. If... what you say is true... Then... Then... will you... she started hesitating. She felt as if she was moving a little fast. She wasn't sure if it was just her instinct trying to push herself to be happy, or if she was okay. finally she build up enough inside of her to come out with it. If you really do love me, then would you be willing to accept me by your side and not abandon me like everyone else has? I don't think I could handle it again... she asked him. She really hoped that she was making the right decision. She had nothing to lose however, and he had always been there for her. The more she though about it, the more content she was with the decision. Maybe, just maybe, I'm not alone after all...[/b] she said started to calm down a bit. |

Kodak smiled saddly, knowing that he would never know what pain Nira was in. Also knowing he would never be able to fully fix it. Her heart was torn to pieces and some of those pieces would never be found again. No matter how hard they looked. And he also knew putting the pieces together might not be the easiest job ever. Only time would tell because only time could fully fix things. I understand that you were hurt a lot. I just thought I should finally get that out of my mouth in fropnt of you. You needed to know how truly you were cared for... he felt her come closer to his side and he nuzzled her snout. His eyebrows shot up in surprise when she asked him to stand by her side so soon. He felt like someone else was there but ignored it, he didn't care if anyone was watching. I'm not going anywhere for a long time Nira, I will never leave you. You will have to leave me first, and i highly doubt that will happen anytime soon. Kodak looked at the sky and saw the rain clouds were getting closer. He could see the rain spanning across the desert, nothing heavy but enough to cool everythnig down. As it got closer where it was done he could see a rainbow start to form. The rain fell silently on them, calming his nerves and washing away anything that had stuck to their scales. |

Nira moved closer into Kodak's side snuggling as close as she could. She was kicking herself for never noticing him before, and how it must have hurt him.
