Tenebrae had left her den in the middle of the night, flying over the desert with only the stars keeping her company, heading for the falls. She wanted to see the sunrise over the waterfall, and she just couldn't fall back asleep after she had woken up that early. She landed on a rock near the top of the waterfall, and lay down, settled like a sphinx. The rushing of the water plunging to the ground was very much like her mind at this moment, both busy and running with energy, but calm. The sun began to turn the eastern sky a pale rose color. The moon had not yet faded from sight, and it provided a breathtaking sight as night yielded to the dawn. Tene continued to watch the sky as the last stars slowly faded and the sky lightened, turning pink and yellow, then blue as the sun rose and the moon finally vanished until nightfall. Tene looked out before her at the view from the top of the falls, the beauty and serenity broken only by the volcano that sat in the central plains. It had been about a year since it had appeared, and it always felt like it had a air of destruction, as if it was only there to spite everyone and ruin their lives. But it was only a matter of time before they came up with a plan to get rid of Luthicia. For good this time. She lay her head on her paws. Despite the "impending destruction" feeling that the volcano seemed to give off, it was only half of a balance, matching the actual construction of the land. Volcanoes surely must have existed before, and they may have helped to create part of this land. Everything had a match, an equal and opposite, making two halves of a whole. That was the main thing that her foster father had taught her. The moon and the sun, both let dragons see, though at two different times. The night and the day, the air and the land, perfect complements of one another, even Nira and Luthicia, Honesty and Good forced to bear the brunt of Evil and Demonic, complete opposites that, unfortunately, were still somewhat associated with one another. Tenebrae sighed. Everything and everyone had a match somewhere. But where was hers? She shook her head. Wondering would get nothing done. Although..... she couldn't help but think what it would be like, to have a family. True, the clan was like one huge family, though some days, she couldn't help but wonder a little. |
