Name: Sarine Dragon Type: Eastern Age: 16 Gender: Female Clan: None Clan position desired: -- Desired Magic: Water: Mastered Wind: Mastered Healing: Strong Appearance: Sarine has a long, thin body. Her red snakelike scales cover most of her body, but her underside is white and bare of scales from the bottom of her jaw to the tip of her long tapering tail. The scales on her back are covered with a black diamond pattern that goes from her forehead to the tip of her tail, the diamonds gradually getting smaller as they get farther from her head. Some of her teeth are extremely sharp. Her eyes are usually a deep purple, but quickly turn to an acid green when she is angered, usually the only way you can tell she is so. She is about 15 feet tall and 60 feet long. Personality: Sarine's first impression of other dragons is usually suspicion. Her voice is always soft, because it is damaged. Even if she is angry, if she tries to raise her voice, it will stay the same, making her expression and her eyes the only way to tell if she is angry. She is easily offended, and if someone attacks her, then she will fight back with all her strength. She has a bit of a temper, but recognizes when she's gone too far and tries to calm herself down. One of her favorite things to do is to swim in the Selicarian Lake, because she loves the water and enjoys manipulating it with her water magic. History: Sarine hatched on an isle far off the northern coast of Selzar. The isle was completely covered in snow year-round, and rogues threatened to tear her large family apart every day. She had six brothers, four of them three years younger than her and two four years younger, and no sisters. Her mother had been lost in a snowstorm around when she was six and it was assumed that she had perished, either by the cold or by an attack by a rogue. The climate of the island was terrible for her family, and the few bits of prey they could find were often stolen under their snouts by rogues, since their father was becoming too old to defend them well. However, he was still strong enough to teach them wind magic, so that they could calm the wind and prevent snowstorms from catching them unaware. Around the time that she became 13, she became the 'leader' of her brothers, stronger than all of them and able to use her wind magic more powerfully. She fought off the rogues when they came too close easily, because they were weak from hunger and not able to return her blows. She was quite ambitious back then, however, and she wanted to be much stronger than her brothers, and to have something that they did not. The only thing she could think of was to have another kind of magic. She asked her father one night, when she was 14, if he could teach her another magic, and he responded that the only other magic he knew was healing. She quickly declined, thinking that all she needed was a magic that she could use offensively. But three nights after, as she kept watch while the others slept, a well-fed rouge came up to her. She immediately was tensed and ready for battle, but he merely chuckled and said that he had no intention of attacking her. He explained that he had heard her ask her father what magic he could teach her, and that he had heard his response and thought that he could teach her another magic. Seeing the rogue as a friend now, she accepted his offer and agreed to visit him every other night. The following year and a half was a good one for her. The rogue, who had introduced himself as Demis, showed her how she could fish on the beaches of the island by using water magic, and he taught her in the ways of that magic. In a year, she had mastered it completely. One day, just a month or two after Sarine turned 15 and a half, Demis asked her if she wanted to go with him on a trip, saying that he had found a place where there was no snowstorms and everything was green, saying that it was only a little while south. She agreed, and they both set off. The journey was harsh, and it was three days until they found the southern coast. But there was nothing to be seen, nor on the horizon. But Sarine knew that there must be something there. She told this to Demis, who said with an odd smile that there was nothing to be found here, and he knew that. In an instant, she found herself surrounded by other rogues. Demis then told her that it had been a trick to lure her away from her family so that they could attack her here and attack her weakening family far away, so that she could not protect them. She was then set upon by five rogues at once, and she tried to fend them off, but soon they had wounded her severely. Her throat ripped by the claws of a rogue, she fell to the ground, thinking that she would die. But then came another dragon, leaping into the fray and killing two of the rogues attacking her. It was Sarine's father. He next leaped at Demis, and used his wind magic to slice his throat, killing him as well. The other rogues quickly fled once her father turned his rage-filled eyes on them. He then proceeded to heal her throat with his healing magic. He explained that he had seen her leave with Demis and left the brothers to track her, and had fallen behind and was just catching up to her when she was attacked. He then scolded her severely for befriending a rogue. Then he asked if she was all right, and she replied yes. But her voice was a lot softer than usual. Upon examining her throat, her father realized that her vocal chords were damaged, but he did not have the healing power to heal that internal injury. They came home three days later, and along the way her father started to teach her healing magic, so that she could heal her own wounds. They found their cave and ran inside, anxious to see how her brothers were doing, and found them gone, with traces of a struggle. Then rogues appeared at the entrance of the cave and began to move in on them. Sarine's father, enraged, demanded to know where his sons were. They responded that they had all been killed and eaten. The rogues then leaped upon her father, attacking him and wounding him. He yelled for her to run, and after fighting the rogues and finding that they were far too strong for her, fled the cave and took flight, flying and flying south to look for help. After a long while, she found the coast and quickly flew over it, looking for that green land that she knew was there. She finally found Selzar, and was amazed at how green it was. She made her home in a wooded area near the Selicarian Lake and turned 16 a few months after she made her home there. She usually fled at the sight of seeing another dragon, thinking that they might attack her like the rogues did, and worked on strengthening her healing magic. She still lives there to this day, still cursing herself for fleeing her father when he was in danger and being responsible for her brothers' deaths. Picture: None Other: Nothin'. |
