GOOD NEWS EVERYONE

Three years!!! Can you believe it's been three years since I've opened this site? It's unheard of for an rp forum to last this long, and even though we've had our down times, we will come back as strong as ever I want to thank everyone that has stuck with tdos through all of it's rough times, and, helping make this what I can now realistically, and with a lot of pride, that The Dragons of Selzar is the absolute best dragon rpg forum on the internet today.

Name: Solemelos

Nickname: Solem

Dragon Type: Western European

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Clan: None

Clan position desired: —

Desired Magic:
Wind: Mastered
Water: Mastered
Lightning: Strong

Appearance: Solem is a strong dragoness with short, pale, silvery-blue fur that is always streaked with rain. Her gleaming black claws are blunt, for she does not sharpen them a lot. Her eyes are a golden color, straining to see through the ever-present wall of thick rain. Her black, pronged horns are short but sharp. A long strip of black skin stretches across her face from one jawbone to the other. The underside of her body is covered in short black fur. She has very large ears with black insides and a gold earring hanging from each of them, a black horsehair tassel on each of the earrings. Her long tail ends in a black tuft of fur. She has no spikes or crests on her back. Her large wings are covered in black feathers. Solem is 21 feet tall, 44 feet long, and has a large wingspan of 95 feet.

Personality: Solem has almost no control over her own magic, so a constant storm follows her, made of her combined magic. She's a bit uncomfortable around other dragons, since her one companion is usually simply the pouring rain. Since she had lost her memory in a terrible storm, she has never known who she was. She tries to search for answers, but with no success as of yet. If a dragon approaches her, she will stand her ground, but she will be a bit nervous around them. If pressured to do something, she will most of the time go with what they are telling her to do. If a fight is started, what she will do depends on her mood. If she is anything other than angry, she will simply run away. But if she happens to be angry, the storm will swirl angrily and she will attack the other dragon with fury, hardly noticing her actions. Most of the time, she is completely alone.

History: As far back as Solem can remember, she had woken up one night in a dragon's cave in the middle of a tremendous storm. The dragoness that lived in the cave soon found that she had woken up and informed her that she had found her outside with a gash inflicted by lightning magic from one side of her jawbone and cutting across her face to the other. The dragoness, who had told Solem to call her Aburu, told her about how she had rushed Solem to her cave and healed her gash quickly, but her fur hadn't grown back yet, leaving her with a band of black skin stretching across her face. Aburu, after telling her story, then asked Solem what her name was. Solem couldn't remember at all. In fact, she found that she couldn't remember any of what happened before she woke up, only the fact that she was 12 years old. Aburu thought about this, then decided to take care of the young dragoness, deciding to call her Solemelos, or Solem for short.
Solem lived there for a few days before noticing that the storm, while dying down a bit to become a mere thunderstorm, still had not stopped completely. She asked Aburu about why it had not died down. Aburu did not know anything about it, only that it had started a week before and proceeded to climb in intensity until the night that Solem was found. Solem pondered that often while she was there. Finally, a month later, she realized that the storm varied in intensity seemingly in sync with her emotions. Thinking that she might have something to do with the storm, she tried to control it and found that she could do so. She found that she had learned, in the time before she woke up without any memories, wind, water, and lightning magic. Her magic was not completely under her control, however, leading her to believe that it was, in fact, her who was creating and sustaining the storm.
After telling Aburu of this, they both decided to test it out by leaving the cave. They both left together and flew as far as they could away from the cave in the middle of their jungle habitat. Sure enough, when Aburu and Solem split up, the storm followed Solem wherever she went. They returned to their cave and tried to think of what to do with her power, since Aburu thought that it was a useful one, but hard to control, as Solem had demonstrated. Solem could quiet the storm for a day or two, but once she slackened her grip on her magic, it would return.
After two years of living under the barrage of constant thunder and rain, Aburu decided to talk to Solem about her power again. She explained to her that she did not want to live in a storm for the rest of her life, and it seemed that the only way she could live otherwise was to have Solem leave. Aburu told her that she could come back once a month, but any other time, she would have to find another home for herself.
Solem accepted these terms sadly. She wanted to stay with Aburu, but she knew that the raincloud she bore over her head was only meant for her to endure, not anyone else. She spent three more years wandering the land, keeping close to the jungle so that she could visit Aburu, but still journeying far away at some times. She searched for a place to call home, but she was also searching for a way to get back her memory.
One visit, as soon as Aburu saw Solem, she eagerly asked her to follow her somewhere. Solem agreed, and Aburu led her to a wide plain. The plain, however, was full of dead grass and did not appear to be growing at all. Aburu led Solem through the plain, Solem's storm casting rain upon the grass. A human village came into view, and as the rain fell upon their houses, the humans appeared to be celebrating. Aburu brought Solem into the village. The villagers greeted Aburu with familiarity, showing that she had visited the village before. Aburu explained to Solem that she had found this village a few days ago, and a drought had hit the plain, causing their crops to wither and the people to despair. She had told the humans of a dragon that brought rain wherever she went, rekindling the human's hopes, and finally, Solem had come back. The humans seemed to admire Solem as she walked through the village, and the leader of the village came to Solem to thank her for the rain. He gave her a pair of gold earrings, with two black horsehair tassels on them. Solem thanked him for the gift, and since the day was almost over, prepared to wander the land again. But the leader of the village asked her to stay for a few more days, so that her rain would continue. Solem agreed, and stayed with the village for a while longer, helping the villagers take care of their now growing crops. However, Aburu was getting tired of the rain, so she left for her jungle again.
After a long time living with the village, it became winter, and the village did not need Solem anymore. She prepared to leave, noticing that it was time for her to come back to Aburu's cave for a visit again. She had not visited for months. Solem was 16. When Solem hurried to Aburu's cave, she found it empty. She quickly flew to the humans' village, hoping that Aburu had simply gone for a visit to the village. But she came to find it burning and a huge red dragon hovering over it.
Flying to the village, her storm followed, putting the fires out. The red dragon turned to her, angry that she had disturbed his siege, and flew at her, preparing to attack. But Aburu got in the way. She shot between the two and attacked the red dragon, forcing him back. The red dragon struck at Aburu, but she held on to him, tearing his wings so that he could not fly. He plummeted to the ground, but he clung to Aburu and crashed into the ground. The red dragon was killed instantly, he fell from such a large height. But Aburu, with functional wings, had lessened the force a bit. But she still was gravely injured. Solem ran to her, fearing for her safety, and all Aburu said was that more were to come. She saw them, flying over the mountains to ravage the village for their abundance of gold, and the red dragon was only the first to come. She told Solem that she alone could not fight off them all. She told her to escape. Then, without further instruction, Aburu passed on to the world of the dead.
Solem's tears were shed, mixing with the rain pattering on her cheeks. Then she looked at the village. It was almost completely destroyed, probably all of its inhabitants dead already. All she could do now was to heed Aburu's dying words: to run. To run and run and run, and only to save her own hide. And Solem, saddened by Aburu's death, chose to follow her words.
And run Solem did. She ran through the plains, and when she got to the mountains, she flew over them. A sea appeared behind the mountains, and she flew over that, only thinking about running away. Then an island appeared in the distance, and Solem believed that she had no choice but to go there, far, far away from all of what she had known, because she never really knew the truth about who she was.

Other: The weather in all of her topics will be rainy or stormy, since her usually out-of-control magic constantly creates a storm above her.
