It was definitely raining now, making tiny pockmarks appear in the ocean's surface above her. The ripples were being consumed by the waves as each drop became a part of the whole ocean. Tiny air bubbles floated up around her as she turned her head to look further above her. It wasn't raining too hard from what she could tell, but she preferred to not be on the surface these days. She loved water, but on land, rain made her already poor eyesight worse. Levi lay on her side on the sandy sea floor, her mane floating in a dark blue halo around her face. She pulled her tail up around her and watched another brave fish swim towards her. The fish surveyed Levi for a minute or two, then decided to swim quickly away. Truly, they are the chickens of the sea, Levi thought to herself, smiling. She looked behind her, checking for sharks, just in case that had been what had scared the fish away, but none were in sight right now. The water was dimmer than what she was used to, but she felt confident in her abilities, both in swimming and defense. tendril of unusually cold water brushed her side, and when she looked, she found a thin layer of ice stuck to her scales. Without realizing it, the water right next to her left forepaw had begun freezing into a claw with her ice magic. Levi stopped the magic and the warm water quickly dissolved the ice now that it had nothing to sustain it anymore. She lay her head down on her paws and sighed in her head, since she couldn't underwater. Her tail began swinging slowly through the water, moving side to side above the sand. Levi looked back up to the surface of the water before pushing off the bottom, bringing a cloud of sand with her. She let herself float upwards to the surface. Her head broke through the surface and she took a breath with her lungs. The rain had lessened even more, now feeling almost like a light mist instead of rain. The skies above were still gray, but it was definitely lighter than it had been earlier in the morning. Levi smiled as she flipped onto her back. If this continued, the sun would return just after noon. |
